About the Event
‘Tis the season to give . . . and this is truly a time to help those in need as prices on, well, pretty much everything, have increased, including food—hitting less fortunate folks the hardest. One unique way to help our fellow North Carolinians is by donating your legally harvested deer to the N.C. Hunters for the Hungry program.
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is a proud supporter of N.C. Hunters for the Hungry and asks that you consider supporting this nonprofit organization in its efforts to provide healthy venison to food relief agencies. And it’s easy to donate, with drop off locations at approved meat processors throughout the state. After the deer meat is processed, it is distributed to community pantries and given to people who are struggling to feed themselves and their families.
It may seem like a small contribution, but offering high protein, low fat deer meat to less fortunate North Carolinians provides them a lifeline of support.
“First and foremost, the deer donation program is an opportunity for hunters to help our fellow North Carolinians. Secondarily, it has a positive impact on our agency’s deer population management efforts,” said WRC’s Executive Director Cameron Ingram. “We also encourage non-hunters to review the organization’s additional opportunities to support this effort.”
Consider donating part of your harvest and experience the joy of giving back.
Happy holidays and happy hunting!
